The Gestalt figure and ground principle can be found in the Toblerone logo icon. Even though the small round shapes/circles in the logo icon are individual/unconnected, equally sized shapes, they are placed in such a way (in relation to each other) that they are perceived together as a bigger shape – the continent of Africa. In the logo for eLearning Africa, the Gestalt proximity principle is very present. The shapes and the letters have been meticulously placed to resemble an eagle. Even though there are some letters incorporated together with them, you can clearly see that the shapes in the logo icon form a single unit that looks like an eagle. This logo is a perfect example of the Gestalt closure principle in action. The zig-zagged line in the middle of the word acts as a «V», and at the same time, it leads the viewer’s eye from the beginning of the word to the end of the word. This logo uses the Gestalt continuation principle. There are two similar triangular shapes that form the «M», and even though they have different colors they are still perceived as one unit when you look at the logo. This logo is an example of how the similarity Gestalt principle can be applied to a logo. The Gestalt Theory is the theory and principles behind the way the mind perceives wholes out of incomplete parts and how we describe the organization of design elements into a unified and singular entity. Find examples of four themes of thinking, and explain your choices.Explain in your own words, which logos are showing which principles, motivate your answer. Page through a magazine or newspaper or browse the Internet and find a different logo for each of the Gestalt principles.Define the Gestalt Theory in your own words.I feel much more confident in what I am talking about now than I did last year, and it is so fun to see the development I have had and all the knowledge I have gained, and I am just looking forward to more! Anyway, here is the learning activity for the second week of graphic design 2: Now it is the second year, and it was quite fun to revisit these principles and do this learning activity, especially when I realized how much more confident and secure I am regarding what I think and conclude with. For the learning activity for this week, I have revisited the Gestalt Theory that I learned about early in the first year of this course. ![]()
